PROFESSIONAL STATUS

I am a Certified Life Coach. I am also educated and trained as a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. (Did you know ... according to Wikipedia, a PhD degree is higher than an MD?)

I am not a licensed psychologist, psychiatrist, psychotherapist, social worker or marriage and family counselor. I do not practice as any of the licensed mental health professions.

After completing all the requirements and internships to qualify for taking the exams to become a licensed psychologist, however, I made a life altering decision. I chose to go back to school, graduate, and become a life coach instead.

I was convinced that I could offer more rapid and lasting help to my clients by using proven successful methods. These included life coaching, the multiple forms of energy psychology and advanced hypnotherapy for emotional recovery.

I believe that this track has more to offer my clients than the psychotherapeutic approaches of the traditional "talk" therapy and medication.

I strive for creating a positive future and a happier life for both my clients and myself.

Code of Ethics:

As a Credentialed Life Coach, I adhere to the elements and principles of ethical conduct  under the International Coach Federation Code of Ethics.

As a Life Member Status with the American Psychological Association (APA), I also follow the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct rules.

Documents:

Medical Board of California, Board of Psychology, Candidate for taking the exam leading to Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

Colorado State Board of Licensed Professional Counselor Examiners, Candidate for taking the exam leading to Licensed Professional Counselor.

Institute for Life Coach Training,  A Program of Therapist University, (I was told that therapists made the best coaches.) Fort Collins, Colorado; Certified Life Coach.

Trained by L. Patrick Williams, EdD, owner, Diane Menendez, PhD, Jim Vuocolo, DMin.

CoachVille, Denver, Colorado, "Certified Coach Intensive";

Thomas J. Leonard, Instructor, Founder of CoachVille, Life Coach Trainer.

Career Notes

I have been involved in the mental healthcare community for many years beginning as a supervised caseworker and crisis counselor for the American Red Cross.

My overlapping background of several years included employment in advertising, marketing, and the graphic communications industry. I did layout, creative design and wrote ad copy for promotional and informational material. I also did merchandising and business sales promotion.

Experience included art direction, graphic design and other print production skills. I was a cameraman, stripper and plate maker. In addition, I developed knowledge in public relations and publicity. I continue to  use many of these skills and knowledge in my present ventures.

For more details on the progression of my career life, please review my professional background in its entirety.

Also, more job and career information is located in my "Personal History."
